Gillian Flynn, author of Gone Girl is set to reimagine one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. Flynn will be retooling Hamlet as part of the “Hogarth Shakespeare project”.
The project involves authors, such as George R.R.Martin and R.L. Stine, “retelling” some of the Bard’s most popular writing in a form for modern audiences. They promise the new works will be true to the original drama but are allowing the authors an exciting opportunity to reinvent these iconic stories.
One things for sure, Flynn’s version of Hamlet is certain to be darker, if her intense thriller Gone Girl is anything to go by.
The series is set to launch in 2016 to coincide with the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.
