Could Michael B Jordan be in line for a starring role in the upcoming Independence Day sequel?
According to The Wrap it certainly seems like a strong possibility. They are reporting that multiple individuals familiar with the 20th Century Fox project, are saying that the Fruitvale Station star is being eyed for a major role in the film.
“Emmerich has met with several up-and-coming young actors, including Jordan, who is high on the studio’s list. Fox execs like Jordan for the part — his name has been thrown around repeatedly in creative meetings — and Jordan is interested,” the sources have said.
Independence Day 2 was originally expected to hit theaters on July 3, 2015 but recent reports suggest that the release may be pushed back further into the future.
“You have to set a release date otherwise another film moves into it,” director Roland Emmerich said. However, he has promised that the sequel will be his next project, provided the script is in good shape. “I should get the script pretty soon, then I’ll try to get it into good shape for one or two months, and if that happens, we’ll announce it and start production.”
Stars Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman have both signed on to reprise their roles from the original film.
So, will Michael B Jordan land a role in ID4 2 or won’t he? I guess for now, only time will tell. Stay tuned to PopWrapped to find out.
