Game Of Thrones came to face an obstacle back in August, when the Croatian filmed board did not give permission to film a very important nude scene. Thankfully, after lots of discussions and compromises, both parties came to an agreement and the scene was finally shot.
This post might include minor spoilers. You have now been warned and can continue reading at your own risk.
In the summer, the executive producers of Game Of Thrones asked for permission to film a naked Lena Headey walking out of the Church of St. Nicholas. The film board first denied to satisfy the request, but since the scene was essential for the series, the producers had to make it happen. They have now agreed that the filming can take place in the streets around the building without a problem. However, a naked Cersei is not allowed inside the temple, while the indoor scenes in the actual episode will involve a fake set.
Even though the show’s producers managed to overcome this difficulty and film the pivotal scene in Dubrovnik, another issue presented itself. The actress playing Cersei Lannister, Lena Headey, has denied requests to appear nude in any Game Of Thrones scene. Therefore, the use of a body-double is the most plausible solution for this scene. In recent photos from the set, the one playing Cersei appears semi-naked, but it’s not clear whether it’s Headey or not. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out, when the series return for its fifth season next year.
