Earlier this week, the CW network brought joy to many fandoms when they renewed all eight of their current programs for the 2015/2016 season. The series include; The 100, Supernatural, The Flash,Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Reign, and Jane The Virgin.
With shows like Jane The Virgin and The 100 receiving critics attention, along with ratings hits likeThe Flash and other CW staples, president Mark Pedowitz felt confident in all of the networks current programs, saying in a press release, “Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience, by picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season’s storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups.”
The mass renewal came as a surprise to many, leaving possible limited new spots next seasons and mid season shows that haven’t aired (iZombie) however it is worth acknowledging that Pedowitz is a smart man indeed to give writers a chance to build towards potential plot lines without concern of quickly wrapping a series up which has happened too many times to stellar series (Ringer, The Secret Circle) . Congratulations to all of the fandoms, everyone is a winner this season and next!
