D3lta Drops The Video For Latest Single “Hey You”

“I would often sit in my room at night,…and imagine that I was in an arena performing in front of thousands of people…”

D3lta has been surrounded by music since he was young. Having started out playing the piano – he underwent classical training at the age of 5 – he then experimented with a more grunge and rock sound by picking up a guitar. In high school, he honed his skills by playing in several bands and, while studying in London, took to the stage at venues including the iconic Comedy Club.

Having released his first solo material back in 2018, he since earned himself acclaim and support from the likes of Earmilk, and proven himself time and time again to be an artist who isn’t afraid to try new things and who has never fit into the stereotypical boxes of what an artist should sound like. Perhaps nowhere is this more evident than on his latest single “Hey You”, the video for which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.

This new track is particularly personal to D3lta, as he explains: “’Hey You’ means a lot to me so I felt that it was really important for me to capture the full emotions of the song when I was in the studio recording. I started working with an acting coach William Lester to help me prepare and before I even sang anything to him, he asked me to read my lyrics out loud to him. I hadn’t shared the story behind ‘Hey You’ with William yet at that time and his first impression was that I was talking to myself in the past or the future.”

He goes on to add, detailing the idea and concepts behind the video for “Hey You”: “That idea stayed with me the whole time I was recording. I couldn’t let it go, so when it was time to start thinking about the music video, I thought it could be a really intriguing concept to develop further. When I was young and had only just started playing music, on the guitar or the piano, I would often sit in my room at night, open the lights of my bedroom so that it was reflected by the window, and imagine that I was in an arena performing in front of thousands of people. The music video dances around these two concepts – a little kid imagining himself performing the song in the future, while at the same time the adult sings it back to his younger self.”
