IT’S DYNAMIC DUOS WEEK!!
And it was also going to be a VERY hectic night!
The remaining 7 couples were competing for immunity during last night’s (Nov. 3) routine, which meant that the lowest scoring couple from LAST week, could end up safe. The remaining couples would then dance off for extra points, which will be added to previous scores and we would then find out who was going home.
Got all that?
Here we go!!
1. Lea & Artem as Bonnie & Clyde – Jazz
These 2 have proven week after week that they’re a serious contender for the Mirror Ball trophy, but I was with the judges, feeling slightly underwhelmed. The routine wasn’t bad, nor were the moves, but something just felt a tad off. The judges criticized the choreography more than the dancing itself, but they still wound up with four 8’s.
2. Michael & Emma as Tarzan & Jane – Foxtrot
Think nice thoughts…..think nice thoughts…..
Ugh.
The judges seemed to be searching for positive comments for the race car driver, but they did pick up on the faults of the performance. Carrie Ann praised his determination throughout the competition, and I guess I’ll agree. The rest of the talent is miles ahead of Michael and it’s time he goes home.
At least according to yours truly.
Shockingly, while they got 6’s from 3 of the judges, they managed to score a 7 from Grumpy Len! Someone was in a good mood.
3. Janel & Val as Romeo & Juliet – Contemporary
Absolutely, stunningly breathtaking.
I could probably find some more words to describe that, but I’m going to have to wrap it up at some point. Janel soared through this number and between her extensions and the lifts, I couldn’t find a single fault. Now, not a professional here, but could ANYONE find something wrong with it!?
PERFECT SCORE!!!
4. Tommy & Peta as Johnny and June Carter Cash – Paso Doble
Ever feel like you probably should critique someone, but have a hard time doing it because of how much of a fan you are?
Right now.
The routine really never came together for our beloved Tommy, and his scores echoed that. What I will continue to raise however, is that he ALWAYS brings his charisma. They managed to get two 7’s and two 6’s.
5. Sadie & Mark as Adam & Eve – Contemporary
In a video from last week, Mark was seen very upset about their scores, so would the judges hold that against him this week?
Well, let’s discuss the dance first.
Going to completely echo Julianne’s words, and mention how much of a maturity there was from Sadie in this dance. It was remarkable to watch. Len made a point of reminding Mark he loves his creativity, but only calls things as he sees them. Bruno & Julianne awarded them with 10’s while Len and Carrie Ann gave them 9’s.
6. Alfonso & Witney as Batman & Robin – Cha Cha
This was AMAZING!!
Week after week these two really do kill their performances, but I have to mention Witney’s choreography. This was insanely good, and I loved every second of it. The judges felt the same and awarded them with two 10’s and two 9’s!
7. Bethany & Derek as Lucy & Ricky Ricardo – Salsa
WOW.
Derek could wind up with another Mirror Ball!!
These two took the camp factor to another level and once again delivered another stellar routine. Derek’s choreo was on point and Bethany really pushed herself this week.
The judges awarded them with three 9’s and a 10 from Bruno….
This meant that the perfect scoring couple for the night, being Janel and Val, were SAFE from elimination!!!
Now for the Dance Off!
Each couple would pick a style of dance for another couple, and the couples would receive 3 extra points towards their scores. The routines would either be cha cha, jive or a rumba.
Alfonso & Witney chose to dance off against Lea and Artem, who chose Jive as the routine. Both couples danced their butts off, with the judges awarding the 3 bonus points to Alfonso and Witney.
Next up, Sadie and Mark chose Derek & Bethany and the Cha Cha. This also meant that Michael & Emma would be dancing against Tommy & Peta in a rumba.
In a shocker, the judges were split over Sadie/Mark and Bethany/Derek which meant it would go to head judge Len for the final decision. Since Len initially chose Bethany and Derek….
That gave the 3 bonus points to them!
Last couples took to the dancefloor, and after passionate rumbas from both of them, the judges unanimously gave the 3 bonus points to Tommy & Peta.
Now for the hard part.
Elimination.
After a long night of competition, Michael and Emma were sent home.
