Daniel Radcliffe Doesn’t See A Harry Potter Musical In The Future

Daniel Radcliffe has been a very busy young man these past few years since the unforgettable Harry Potter films came to an end in 2011. He’s had his fair share of projects including starring in films such as The Woman in Black as well as starring on the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

But speaking of Broadway, what does Daniel Radcliffe have to say about combining “the boy who lived” and the stage? On Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live a viewer asked if the 24-year-old actor would play Harry Potter on a stage revival and from the looks of it, the thought made him awkwardly uncomfortable.

Radcliffe explained that it would be hard for him to take seriously despite his love for both musicals and Harry Potter. “I do like musicals. I do love Broadway. And I do love Harry Potter,” he said. “Do I want those things to be combined, though? My instinct is that I don’t.”

He did reveal that he and the Harry Potter cast/crew used to joke about the idea, bringing up the idea of Harry Potter On Ice. “If we were doing Harry Potter on Ice, what would be the first song? The answer to that is ‘A Kind of Magic’ by Queen.”

This isn’t the first time he was asked about stage plans for Harry Potter. In a 2012 interview with Den of Geek, he had similar thoughts on the matter.

For those of you who immediately thought of StarKid Productions’ A Very Potter Musical, Radcliffe is fully aware of it. “I know Darren Criss did the Very Potter musical, but I don’t think there should ever be an official version of it.”

Now while we probably won’t see Radcliffe on stage as Harry Potter anytime soon…or ever, you can still catch him in his latest project Kill Your Darlings.
