Daniel Radcliffe talked about his “beautiful and tender” sex scene in the upcoming film Kill Your Darlings.
In an interview with Total Film Magazine, Radcliffe spoke out about the intimate scene with on-screen partner Dane DeHaan.
Radcliffe plays Beat poet Allen Ginsberg in the film, which revolves around his early life before fame. “Most actors grow up doing a lot of small movies and then get something big, but I started on the biggest film in the world. So it’s an experience that I haven’t had,” Radcliffe explained.
He assured that the scene is not graphic. “You don’t actually see anything. What’s graphic is the emotion of the scene. It’s a very vulnerable, slightly afraid moment. It’s beautiful and tender as a consequence of that.” Despite not being “graphic,” he explained “I’m sure some people will be slightly… err… startled by the gay sex scene though…”
The biopic follows Ginsberg in his early college years, leading a New York boho lifestyle filled experimenting with sex, drugs, and (of course) poetry. Kill Your Darlings will be released on October 16 in the US and November 8 in the UK.
