Recently, an incredible video of 1,000 fans in Italy playing “Learn to Fly” went viral.
The group is called Rockin’ 1000 and is organized by Fabio Zaffagnini. The whole thing took a year of work to pull off.
If you are a fan of the Foo Fighters, then it is no secret to you that Dave Grohl is a rock star’s rock star. His work on the documentaries Sound City and Sonic Highways clearly illustrate his enthusiasm for his art, both as a musician and a fan. When 1,000 fans got together and made the video in order to convince the Foos to play in Cesena, Italy, Dave answered.
The response was posted to the Foo Fighters’ Facebook page. An approximate translation appeared in the comments section, apparently posted by a fan:
“Hi, Cesena! I am David, hello. I’m sorry, I don’t speak Italian. Only a little, a little. That video – but how beautiful! Very beautiful. Thank you very much [literally: a thousand thanks]. We are arriving [coming], I promise. We’ll see each other soon. Thank you very much. I love you. Bye.”
Once again, Dave has shown himself to be worthy of our worship.
