This is kinda awesome! Too bad I don’t live in Toronto.

EDM hotshot Deadmau5 gave some Canadian fans a treat when he tweeted this on Wednesday night (September 10):

I don’t know about you, but I’d be calling a taxi right away…even if I had absolutely nowhere to go.

A few Twitter users posted Deadmau5’s location in downtown Toronto, and even posted selfies with the DJ–who, by the way, was using his $300,000 white McLaren 650S as the mode of transportation.

Ciara McDonell was one lucky pickup:

If you live in the Toronto area and missed out on taking a spin with Deadmau5, no worries, because he’s planning to do it again.

UberX just launched this week in Toronto, offering customers a low-cost way of getting around. The app matches them with drivers using their own personal cars as transport. According to City News, customers save around 40% compared to regular cab fare.

However, its legality is still in question and under investigation by Toronto officials, noted in this press release:

“The City has significant concerns that UBER has launched a service, identified as UBERX, which may be in contravention of the City’s bylaws, including those governing private transportation providers. We have engaged the expertise of the City’s Legal department, and are reviewing every legal option available to us to address any potential breaches of law, with the objective of ensuring the protection of the public.”
