It seems like everybody has something to say about Miley Cyrus’ recent behavior; and fellow Disney alum, Demi Lovato, is no exception. Lovato seems to be more understanding than most, though.
“She’s having fun and figuring out who she is, and this is the age when that happens”, she told Entertainment Weekly. “I think that she’s doing her own thing. Good for her.”
However, that’s not the direction that Lovato plans on taking. “I used to say [I didn’t want to be a role model] too,” she explained. “That was my excuse to do whatever the fuck I wanted and not give a shit about what other people thought. Then I ended up going through some stuff. I realized I’m never going to escape the fact that I’m in the public eye, so I might as well do the best I can.”
Cyrus has recently been drawing more criticism than usual for her noticeably provocative image. But you can’t say that she’s not accomplished. Her most recent studio album Bangerz debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, becoming her fifth number one album. Cyrus recently announced the North America tour dates of her upcoming Bangerz World Tour in 2014.
