Even though Supernatural: Bloodlines pretty much fell on its face and wasn’t picked up by The CW, sources are reporting that the network is still interested in developing an entirely new spinoff for the decade-old mega hit for when it returns this October.
Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, revealed plans for the upcoming spinoff last May during a call with reporters, including representatives of The Hollywood Reporter. When asked whether he would attempt it, Pedowitz told reporters, “We believe that there’s a real brand with Supernatural… I’ve already spoken to the creator and the studio. They know that we want to develop once more next season, a Supernatural spinoff. What it is and what it isn’t is still in the air.”
Fans ran rampant with speculation following the reveal, with Pedowitz confirming that plans for the spinoff would be finalized within the month of June or July. Rumor has it that the spinoff could be headed by characters already related to the root Supernatural series.
In that case, how about a series based around the story of Samuel Colt? Cain? John and Bobby? Even Benny? There’s tons of Supernatural lore that hasn’t yet been fully exposed throughout the years. Now’s an opportunity to appeal to the fandom greatly by revealing it in the form of an offshoot series!
What do you think about there being another Supernatural spinoff on the horizon? Can it possibly work out following Bloodline’s defeat? Let us know in the comments!
