With everything that Leonardo DiCaprio has seen and done, one would think that he would be able to do it all. But we finally found his Achilles Heel: Leo cannot sing!
He recently revealed in an interview with Variety that he was up for Ewan McGregor’s role in Moulin Rouge. The film would have seen him reunited with director Baz Luhrmann, who directed DiCaprio in Romeo & Juilet.
“To be honest, I’m not really prepared to do a musical, simply because I think I have a pretty atrocious voice,” noted Leo. His audition consisted of Dicaprio and Luhrmann seated with a piano player in a room while Leo sang “Lean On Me.” DiCaprio went to hit the high note and after that Luhrmann apparently turned to Leonardo and said, “‘Yes, D, I don’t know if this conversation should continue.’”
Luckily for Leo, Luhrmann and DiCaprio reunited for the remake of F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.
Still, imagine if Nicole Kidman got to sing the Elephant Love Medley with Leo DiCaprio instead of Ewan McGregor!
