In the brand new Scientology documentary that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, the biggest topic of discussion was the marriage of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
Included in the documentary, titled Going Clear: Scientology & The Prison of Belief, there are several details about Tom and Nicole’s marriage, which crumbled back in 2001 after 11 years together.
The film includes how Tom and Nicole met and fell in love on the set of Days of Thunder, and Nicole was actually considered an “enemy,” because her father was a psychiatrist. This was because the religion didn’t believe in the profession. While their love began to grow, Tom began to distance himself from the religion which caused church head David Miscavige to concoct a plan to drive them apart.
During the course of their marriage, it is said in the film that Tom began to get worried that Nicole was talking to non-church members about their problems, and he allegedly wiretapped her phone to get proof.
There are also rumors, addressed in the film, that their two children, Conner and Isabella, were led to mistrust their mother and turn against her.
So far, Tom nor Nicole have not addressed the film and the responses it’s receiving.
