Clint Eastwood (actor, director, and general bad-ass) saved a man from choking to death.

Wednesday night , Eastwood and Steve John, executive director of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf event, were at a dinner honoring the volunteers of the tournament, when John choked on a piece of cheese.

Eastwood said, “I saw that look in his eyes and saw that look of panic people have when they see their passing before their eyes.”  So, he jumped up and performed the Heimlich maneuver, saving John’s life.  Eastwood also said he had never actually done the Heimlich on a person before.

A grateful John commented, “He’s strong!  The cheese popped out and I was fine…   Clint saved my life.”

In addition to being a real life saver, Eastwood also recently completed directing the screen adaptation of the Broadway musical Jersey Boys.

The Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament is this weekend in Carmel, CA.

Jersey Boys will be released on June 20, 2014.
