Sweet is not quite the word I would use to describe the newest video from L.A. based rapper, Brooke Candy. Some of the words I might use to describe the video for her new single, “Opulence,” include fierce, ground-breaking in a Gaga sense, terrifying, and jaw-dropping. Honestly, I could not stop watching it and near the end, I almost forgot to breathe. It is almost like a train wreck–but in a good way. It is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, of course, but Brooke Candy is definitely carving a place for herself in the music scene.

“Opulence” is the first single that Brooke Candy has released since signing with Columbia at the beginning of April. She has been working with singer, Sia Fuller, to write her upcoming album and Sia is a powerhouse, responsible for some major hits including “Titanium,” “Diamonds” sung by Rhianna, and “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)” by Ne-Yo. With someone like this on her side, Brooke Candy could be well on her way to stardom.

The video for “Opulence” was directed by Steven Klein, while Nicola Formichetti acted as the stylist. Formichetti has also worked with Lady Gaga, something that you should pick up on when watching the video.

Speaking of the video for “Opulence,” it is probably a bit on the NSFW side, but do yourself a favor and watch it. It is actually quite artistic and certainly has a lesson in it. Read more about Brooke Candy, check out the track list for the Oplulence EP (due for a May 5 release), and watch the “Opulence” video!
