At Disney’s D23 Expo last week, the company introduced the newest princess starring in her self-titled film, Moana. Despite all the details surrounding the upcoming project, what really got people talking is that Moana will serve as the very first Polynesian Disney princess.
The film, animated in the CGI style of contemporary Disney films, takes place in the South Pacific. The newly introduced princess sets sail on a quest to Oceana, where she hopes to find a mythical island. Along the way she encounters many others, including demigod Maui, voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Directing the film are Disney veterans Ron Clements and John Musker. Moana and her friends will be hitting theaters on November 26, 2016.
