It seems that Miley Cyrus has been surrounded by nothing but critics lately, who never tire of reacting to her controversial actions both onstage and off—ranging from her provocative VMAs performance to her revealing Halloween costume inspired by Lil Kim.

As godmother Dolly Parton proved, the “Wrecking Ball” singer still has some support.

According to the NY Daily News, the 67-year-old country singer/songwriter spoke to Radio One on Thursday and addressed her goddaughter’s recent behavior.

“I never wanted advice,” Parton said on any wisdom she’d offer Cyrus. “Miley doesn’t need me. She’ll do it right on her own. I love her, and I hope she does great. Hopefully, she’ll make wise choices.”

“I know she’s made some extreme moves,” she admitted. “I think she’s trying very hard to make her spot.”

What that “spot” may be is anyone’s guess.

Cyrus is certainly racking up the achievements as she tries to figure it all out.

Her latest album, Bangerz, shot to number one on the Billboard charts. The former Hannah Montana star was recently branded VEVO “Certified” after five of her music videos each surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.

Her godmother has her back, and so do her “Smilers”—that’s the affectionate name she has given her fanbase.

“I said the other day ‘my fans are the best fans’ on Twitter, and everyone’s fans got really mad. But I don’t care because they actually are,” she told VEVO in an interview.

So, criticism or not, looks like she’s a wrecking ball and nothing can stop her.
