The planet’s favourite cowgirl is back, y’all! Country legend, Dolly Parton will officially be starring as herself in a Lifetime original movie this holiday season.
The film is called A Country Christmas Story and will launch the network into the planned “It’s A Wonderful Lifetime” holiday set coming up this season. The movie airs November 9.
Dolly Parton stars alongside newbie, Desiree Ross, who plays Grace. The movie follows her as she strives to become a shining country star against all odds. The girl’s ill-advised mother is played by Rules of Engagement alum, Megyn Price.
You might recognise some of the other castmates too: Big Love‘s Mary Kay Place and Green Street Hooligans star, Ross McCall will also feature, and R&B singer Brian McKnight will appear as Grace’s musical dad. Father and daughter reunite in a special scene that takes place at a singing contest hosted by the one and only, Dolly Parton.
The lady herself has been popping up in the news recently, as G-A-Y head honcho, Jeremy Joseph publicly announced his deep desire to have Parton play at the uber famous club.
“You look at Dolly Parton and you just think, ‘She’s probably one of the campest people alive!’ The challenge for me with Dolly Parton would be to look at her in the eyes and not the breasts! If she came on and only did one song, I’d be happy,” he revealed to Digital Spy.
The club boasts one hell of a booking list, with Madonna, Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey all having played there at some point.
