For a genre so deep-rooted in “tradition”, country music stars are thankfully coming out in support of gay marriage left and right.
American Idol winner-turned-country superstar Carrie Underwood was the first to make her support of the LGBT community known, arguably sparking a revolution in the industry that later had other stars like Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, and Wynona Judd standing up for gay rights.
Joining them now is none other than Miss Dolly Parton herself!
In a recent interview with Event, the “Nine To Five” singer said in response to ongoing debate over the legalization of gay marriage in her home state of Tennessee, “I think everyone should be with who they love. I don’t want to be controversial or stir up a bunch of trouble but people are going to love who they are going to love.”
In terms of her career, Dolly is currently planning the release of, surprisingly enough, a dance album!
