Don Everly, the brother of Phil Everly, posted a heart-felt tribute to his brother, who tragically died on Friday, January 3.
Together, Don and Phil made up The Everly Brothers, whose charm and talent shot them to fame in the late 50s.
Don released a statement to thank fans for their on-going support during this time of grief and change. “I loved my brother very much. I always thought I’d be the one to go first.”
He then shared details about a touching moment as he learned that his beloved brother had died. “I was listening to one of my favourite songs that Phil wrote and had an extreme emotional moment just before I got the news of his passing. I took that as a special spiritual message from Phil saying ‘goodbye’.
Our love was and always will be deeper than any earthly differences we might have had… The world might be mourning an Everly Brother but I’m mourning my brother Phil Everly.”
He also said he and his wife were touched by the tributes dedicated to Phil and also thanked fans for allowing them to grieve in private. Also grieving the loss are Phil’s wife Patti, his mother Margaret, sons Jason and Chris and his two granddaughters.
