Is there anything that Marvel can’t do?
Marvel’s: Agents of SHIELD was an instant hit last week, pulling in over 16 million viewers to make it the highest watched drama in four years. That’s an accomplishment in itself. Add to the fact that nerd herder and writer extraordinaire Joss Whedon executive produces the show, we’re sure to have another Buffy on our hands. (Which, by the way, makes us at PopWrapped very happy.)
What else makes PopWrapped happy? Extra credit scenes.
Yes, Agents of SHIELD is following in the footsteps of all of the Marvel movies and featuring after credits scenes starting tomorrow.
The TV show’s Facebook page posted a video, via ABC, which told all of us viewers, “Don’t risk the spoilers. Stay until the very end.”

If that isn’t convincing enough, the video itself is pretty intense for being only twenty-one seconds long. We get a great shot of Lola (who flies, by the way, a la the classic Ford in Captain America) in action along with Melinda May (Ming Na-Wen) kicking bad guy booty with guns in her SHIELD uniform. Agent Ward (Brett Dalton) swings from a helicopter and then it goes a bit crazy.
Some new scenes we haven’t seen before are all intercut with a few classic Marvel scenes, specifically featuring Steve Roger’s shield and Thor’s hammer. FitzSimmons (yes, they’re one word because they’re one unit) are in a lab doing brainy things. Coulson and Ward are looking all agent-y in black. And then Holy SHIELD ‘bus’ Batman, someone puts a hole in the beautiful black SHIELD jumbo jet and Coulson is hanging on by a chord as it looks like everyone else flies out. Wait, what? Ah, this is madness but it certainly has captured my attention along with twenty-one hundred people on YouTube.
Also, is it just me, or has the logo changed this week? I think I spy a Nick Fury eye patch on the eagle. A spoiler in itself? We’ll have to wait and see.
Marvel’s: Agents of SHIELD airs on ABC tomorrow at 8/7c and Channel 4 in the UK on Friday at 8pm.
