Leads pertaining to criminal events which had led to the 2012 suicide of Amanda Todd have resulted in an arrest in the Netherlands this Friday (April 18th). The full name of the suspect has not been released but it has been reported by MSN News that the man is being identified by Dutch police as “Aydin C.” The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have announced that Aydin has been charged for indecent assault, criminal harassment, extortion, and possessing and distributing child pornography.
If early reports are true, Todd was far from being the man’s only victim, having carried out activities against multiple other under age individuals, both female and male. The crime was not isolated to only Canadian children either, as it is being reported that children from other countries have also come into similar contact with Aydin prior to his arrest.
Todd’s mother, Carol, thanked police for their hard work but remains certain that there was more than just a singular individual responsible for the harassment leading to her daughter’s death.
Watch Amanda’s story (as told by Amanda) posted to YouTube weeks before she committed suicide back on October 10th, 2012. Just a warning, it contains graphic imagery and sensitive content.
