The Arctic Monkeys have released their latest music video for “Snap Out Of It”, a single off their most recent and critically-acclaimed 2013 album AM, which topped international charts.
This is the band’s fifth video, directed by Focus Creeps, who have also previously worked with bands Trash Talk and KD Lang.
The English indie rock quartet’s recent videos, like “Arabella” and “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High” have amalgamated fragmented, first-person visions of what is presumed to be hallucinogen-induced delirium. This new release, however, is an outsider’s experience of the restlessness, lunacy, and oddity of heartbreak.
The video features actress Stephanie Sigman (Miss Bala) dawdling about the house looking far better than real humans do when they’re upset. She sobs, sizzles a steak on a pan, does a crazy dance and goes for contemplative swims in the pool, all whilst scrutinizing grainy tapes of band members Turner, Cook, O’Malley and Helders at the recording studio. Throughout the video, she wears the archetypal ‘ex-girlfriend’ costume – a bra and not much else.
