After about 15 hours total of deliberations, the jaw-dropping verdict for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been decided.
The 21-year-old has been sentenced to death by lethal injection on six counts in the fatal Boston Marathon bombing he and his brother initiated two years ago.
Jim Armstrong of Boston’s WBZ was present during the decision, tweeting that it left the room in stunned silence:

The jurors, however, were apparently steadfast in their decision.

According to other reporters present, Tsarnaev displayed no emotions when the sentence was read.
His attorney Miriam Conrad, in contrast, was visibly shocked.
With this death penalty announcement, an appeal for his case will automatically be sent to a higher federal court, and that process could potentially take years to finalize.
Tsarnaev and his older brother, Tamerlan, planned and carried out their fatal bombing plan on April 15, 2013, killing four people and injuring 260 others at the Boston Marathon. His brother was killed in a shootout with police, while Dzhokhar was eventually found hiding, injured, in a boat after a manhunt.
He was found guilty of all 30 charges against him last month, as well as for the murder of the four victims.
