Shocking were the news that Dallas-based Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital admitted a patient who was possibly infected with Ebola. The early diagnosis was based on symptoms, as well as the list of recently-visited countries. After a series of examinations and strict measures, the patient was found out to be positive to the virus.
At first, the likelihood of an Ebola-infected patient was addressed without further information given. According to the hospital, all the federal recommendations coming from Centers for Disease Control and Texas Department of Heath were followed, in an effort to keep the patient himself, as well as every other person in the hospital safe. At the time, the test results from CDC were expected, but they have now arrived and point that the patient is actually infected.
This marks as the very first time Ebola is diagnosed in the United States, as confirmed by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Even though nor further comment was made by any CDC member, a press conference is scheduled to take place at CDC’s headquarters in Atlanta, 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
