It’s a story sure to melt even the stoniest and most cynical hearts. Singer Ed Sheeran earned a lifetime of good karma by serenading a dying 15-year-old fan with her favorite song.

Triona Priestly of Dublin, Ireland had been battling cystic fibrosis since early childhood and her health had been rapidly declining. One of her dreams was to hear Sheeran sing her favorite song, “Little Bird”, before she passed.

The social media community carried Triona’s wish to Twitter, where the hashtag #SongForTri caught the attention of the singer’s management. Management connected with Triona’s friend Lucy Hanlon and made the miracle happen.

Lucy wrote about the events on her Facebook page:

“Ed rang Triona and personally sang “Little Bird” to her as she took her last breaths. Triona left us listening to her idol surrounded by all the people who loved her. People’s respect is incredible. We would like to thank everyone.”

Sheeran was clearly moved and touched by the experience himself. He tweeted:

Nothing can bring back the tragic loss of a young life, but it does make the world a little less dark when people take the time to care.

Our condolences to Triona’s family and friends from everyone here at PopWrapped.
