After much stops and starts, fan outcry and a lead change, it looks like things are finally starting to fall into place for the much-discussed film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. Though the release date has been postponed to Valentine’s Day 2015, filming is set to begin early next month and yesterday we were introduced to the latest addition to the Grey cast. Anastasia Steele’s blonde roommate and best friend, Kate Kavanaugh, will be played by newcomer, Eloise Mumford.
Kate is a confident, outgoing aspiring journalist who ends up dating Christian Grey’s brother, Elliot (played by Luke Grimes) after meeting him at an end of finals celebratory night out.
Mumford, a graduate from NYU, starred in the short-lived Fox series Lone Star. She has also appeared in The River and Drones. She is currently filming Not Safe for Work with director Joe Johnson. She joins Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Victor Rasuk and Jennifer Ehle in the adaptation.
