Elton John fans will now be getting two adaptations of the legendary singer’s life story. In addition to the Rocketman film starring Tom Hardy (yes, I can’t picture it either, but we’ll wait and see), a musical of the same name will be coming to stages on Broadway and London’s West End. Producers say the stage production will be adapted from the film, and the film version will come out first.
John will be heavily involved in the creation of the musical just as he is in the film. Others working on the project include producer Sally Greene and writer Lee Hall, both of whom have collaborated with John before in Billy Elliot the Musical. Hall is also the writer of the Rocketman film.
In addition to all the drama of the colorful performer’s life and career, producers promise that the stage play will also be chock-full of John’s huge hit songs. Casting information for the musical has yet to be announced.
