Producers of the upcoming 12 Monkeys television series have made the bold move to rework the storyline of the original movie and make one of the iconic characters a woman.
Actress Emily Hampshire will take on a variation of the Jeffrey Goines character played by Brad Pitt in the acclaimed 1995 Terry Gilliam film. Fans of the movie particularly embraced Pitt’s portrayal of Goines, a radical animal rights activist and mental patient. Pitt garnered a Golden Globe win and an Academy Award nomination for the role.
Aaron Stanford, Amanda Schull, Kirk Acevedo, and Noah Bean will also star in the series.
12 Monkeys tells the story of a criminal from a post-apocalyptic Earth sent back in time to find a cure for a deadly virus that devastated the planet.
The 12 Monkeys television series will debut on the SyFy channel in January 2015. Watch the trailer below!
