I’ve been quietly referring to 2013 as the year everyone released an album (except for Beyonce) because it’s true. Eminem announced on the eve of the MTV Video Music Awards that he too would be contributing to the music world this year with The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The first single “Berzerk” peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and he followed that up with “Rap God” which debuted at #7.
Now Eminem has reteamed with Rihanna for the aptly titled “The Monster” (you know they were in the studio thinking, “hmmm, what should we call this? The Monster? Cause you know it’s going to be huge”). This is obviously the collaboration Rihanna was referring to in her Tweet from September 11 where she said,
Just left the studio… Recorded a #monster hook for one of my favorite artists! And that's all I can give you… #NavyShit
— Rihanna (@rihanna) September 11, 2013
At the time many thought the #monster reference was a hint at a collaboration with the Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga. However, Gaga denied these rumours.
The duo first got together for their massive hit “Love The Way You Lie” which went #1 in 26 countries and went countless times platinum. By the sound of this new song, this will be just as huge.
Listen to “The Monster” below and let us know what you think!
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be released on November 5.
