Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch have been dubbed the sexiest actress and actor in the world.
The online survey conducted by Empire must have been viewed by a lot of Harry Potter and Sherlock fans, because the competition was fierce. Cumberbatch beat out fan-favorite Tom Hiddleston (who came in second) for the top-spot, and my favorite Man of Steel, Henry Cavill, only came in third! What is this madness?
Emma Watson, whom I adore, beat out two ladies who I tend to feel a little lukewarm about. I simply do not understand the appeal of Scarlett Johansson, who took the number two spot. I like her as Black Widow, and that’s about it. And Jennifer Lawrence, who came in at number three, annoys me a little bit, too. I know, I know. I’m strange, what can I say? I was thrilled Hermoine took the number one spot, and that she has transitioned her Harry Potter fame into such a respectable career.
The survey results were the culmination of 230,000 world-wide votes. Clearly, most of those votes were submitted by some seriously loyal fans.
Another thing is also clear from this list: people find badass chicks sexy. Hermoine may not have been able to fight or shoot an arrow like Natasha or Katniss, but her smarts and ability to think on the fly are the main reasons Ron and Harry never met a grisly demise. She was the brains behind that operation; and people took notice of that. I find it very hopeful that the top three sexiest ladies in the world are those who were not damsels in need of rescuing. Instead, they conducted the rescue.
