Unpopular opinion: Jennifer Lawrence is overrated.
At least, that’s what I thought until I saw her performance as Raven Darkholme aka Mystique in X-Men: First Class and this year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. That’s when I became smitten with her skills as an actress, as she stole the show.
However, even if I wasn’t a fan of hers, that does not mean she deserved to have her privacy breached as blatantly as it has been with this nudes leak.
Jennifer Lawrence, along with other actresses such as Kate Upton, Lea Michele, Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice and more, had personal photos of a sexual nature leaked from the Apple iCloud server, though Apple denies its security was breached. They say they will investigate with authorities to determine the cause and take appropriate actions to ensure this does not happen again.
Emma Watson in particular has stepped up to bat in order to defend her friend Jennifer Lawrence, as well as the other women who have had their right to privacy breached. Taking to Twitter, the talented Ms. Watson tweeted the following:
Even worse than seeing women's privacy violated on social media is reading the accompanying comments that show such a lack of empathy.

Emma Watson is right in her assessments — with people being quick to blame the victim and slut-shame them — as evidenced by the following tweets:
Because the onus is on the person whose privacy was invaded, right? #BoyBye

Because we shouldn’t have the right to take photos of us in any nature as we like, especially for private sharing, but it being stolen means it’s her fault?

This is my personal favourite. It’s your typical male who wanted to slut-shame the woman but enjoy the goods at the same time. He wants to have his cake and eat it too.

This one is just baffling as fuck. This person claims everyone failing to teach Jennifer Lawrence to never put your face in a nude picture is her fault? He literally just said that someone else failed to teach her, but the onus is on her anyways. What.
I’m seriously not a fan of those who simultaneously try to damn the girl, slut-shaming her and trying to make her feel and seem lesser than what she is (a glorious and meaningful person) while getting their jollies off. Don’t be a god-damned hypocrite. Don’t enjoy something while hating whoever created it. Don’t try to get the best of both worlds when it’s clear that there is a dichotomy that you’re probably just too dumb (with all that blood leaving your brain to travel south to your nether regions) to realize.
I’m off to mangle misogyny. Anyone care to join me?
