AMC Greenlights ‘Empire Of The Dead’ Television Adaptation

George A. Romero’s Empire Of The Dead is set to become a television series, to air on AMC.

When it comes to zombies in the media, no name stands greater than that of George A. Romero, and it looks likes fans of the iconic horror film maker (and the zombie genre at large) are in for quite a treat.

One of his works, a limited comic book mini-series titled Empire Of The Dead, has been confirmed to be a television series on AMC.

This is according to Empire Of The Dead artist Arthur Suydam, who made the revelation in an interview at the Louisville Wizardworld Comic Con. “This [Empire Of The Dead] just got signed to AMC. The new big zombie series on AMC is expected to be this one right here,” he said.

An announcement was also made in Cannes last May, but back then it wasn’t clear which network was picking it up; these were the only details revealed: “The series will be written by Romero and longtime partner Peter Grunwald, and executive produced by Romero and Grunwald with Demarest’s Sam Englebardt and William D. Johnson.”

The comic book series, which inspired the upcoming television series, was published by Marvel Comics. It began its publication last and ended its run this October. The storyline is notable because it not only features zombies, but it also includes vampires.
