Erin Andrews is set to take over from Brooke Burke-Charvet as the host of ABC’s hit series Dancing With The Stars, according to a source from PEOPLE Magazine.
Andrews, who competed in Season 10 with pro-dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, is also a sports reporter for FOX and will continue to work with the network while hosting on DWTS. A network rep. told The Wrap,” We are very excited for Erin and this opportunity for her but her FOX Sports responsibilities remain the top priority.”
Like her replacement, Brooke Burke-Chavet is a former contestant of the show, and has hosted alongside Tom Bergeron for seven seasons.
Burke-Chavet released a statement to E! News on Friday, saying, “I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture.” She added, “I’ve always been one to embrace change and looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn’t able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show. I’ve seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom but this one takes the cake.”
She then took to Twitter to thank her fans for their support, tweeting,” Thanks for all the love & support. I loved my time in the ballroom & I’ll love my next chapter too. Change is positive. Love you guys!”
It has also been announced that the show’s musical director Harold Wheeler is set to leave the show, after been attached to the series from the beginning.
