Everyone’s Got A Cold On This Week’s ‘Modern Family’

Everyone has a little bit of a cold on this week’s ‘Modern Family’, and they all have Mitch to thank for it. Or do they?

This week’s episode of Modern Family had a centralized plot-line in which the whole family has come down with Mitch’s honeymoon cold.

As the episode progresses though, you realize that in actual fact, the cold that managed to bring down the entire family actually began with Phil. When previewing Mitch and Cam’s wedding video for the first time, Phil realizes that he spread the cold by sneezing into the cake, a glass of champagne that Mitch subsequently drunk and, finally, a napkin, but Mitch then used this to rub his eye.

The cold spread through the family with various different symptoms for example, Jay had two weeks of bronchitis and Gloria got vertigo and could not walk in heels anymore. As is usually the case, all of these symptoms culminated in one super-cold for the mother of the Dunphy family, Claire, who still attempted to meet a client so she would not disappoint Jay.

After a meticulous editing process, Phil realized that his sneezes could not be edited out, and Luke gave some classic-Phil advice, encouraging him to accept the original video and show it at the screening at the Pritchett house. However, after everyone realized their flaws in the video, Cam’s crying face and Jay’s underarm sweat to name a couple, Phil offered to re-edit it, allowing him time to edit himself out. Just as he thought he was in the clear, Lily turns to him and says, “I know you sneezed on the cake.”

I actually liked this episode; there were laughs, and definitely relatable parts when the family was pointing out their flaws that nobody has ever mentioned to you before. Not to mention it made that inevitable winter cold not seem so bad.
