Rising talent Pete Gardiner is an Irish singer songwriter with a message to share.
Earlier this year he got soulful on debut release “All These Things.” Receiving acclaim for the track, Gardiner was already off to a solid start in the industry. Things were only going to get better for him…
Following his official debut, Gardiner teamed up with Pol Brennan on music for Property of The State. Inspired by true events from the 1990s, the Irish film explores a murder case that brought issues like mental illness and domestic abuse into the public consciousness. Delivering the lyrics to the film’s closing track “From Over The River,” the rising talent served a poignant moment.
Buoyed by the high profile feature, Gardiner has moved forward with plans to release his debut album later this year. Work on the project has seen him teaming up with the likes of iconic producer Tommy McLaughlin and hitmaker Ash Howes. After putting in the work behind the scenes Gardiner is ready to kick off the project with lead single “Pretty Smiles.”
“Pretty Smiles” is a striding but thoughtful release from Pete Gardiner. Over a lush instrumentation the crooner sings of giving his heart away after a chance meeting. As the song progresses the artist reflects on how easily he fell in love to a glimmering smile on a dark street, and how his first reaction may leave him heartbroken.
“it ain’t easy when you’re falling in love with a ghost all damn night” he sings over the tinkling production. The track sees Gardiner ruminate on the lost opportunity, yet he still somehow seems grateful for the short romance that played out in his mind. It’s a testament to his character and the power of the human heart, which is able to survive slights and continue to offer love to those around us.

The “Pretty Smiles” music video is set to debut soon and is said to showcase a 50s Film Noir style. The video will see a bartender falling in love with the fleeting memory of a ghost from the distant past, alluding to the track’s concept of love and the power that it can hold over people. It’s an intriguing visual concept, and one that we think will add a certain sense of depth to the already evocative track.
With his album set for a tentative debut later this year, it’s safe to assume that we’ll be hearing quite a bit more from Pete Gardiner in the coming months. His soulful vocals, starkly beautiful production, and intuitive lyrical gifts make him a truly promising artist, and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue to grow!
