Dave Cicirelli’s recent novel, Fakebook, has been picked up by Ineffable Pictures, and will become a film.
The film, titled Fakebook: A True Story Based on Actual Lies, will be based on the clever story from the non-fiction book.
The book is an account of Cicirelli’s process of reinventing himself completely online in 2009. He was in his mid-20s at the time, and decided to gradually design a cyber-life of made up situations and even a fake girlfriend. His success in the illusion was upheld by documents edited with Photoshop.
What is so impressive about the story is how his double life affects his real life, and how he grows jealous of the man he is portraying himself as.
Founder of Ineffable Pictures, Raffi Kryszek, recently stated that he was intrigued by the true story in the book and even more amazed by Cicirelli’s “sharp cultural insight.”
