Josh Boone, director of the tragic-romance The Fault in Our Stars, is ready to direct his next film, but this one has a bit of a more “heroic” spin to its tale while keeping the youth-oriented factor. Boone has signed on to be the director and co-writer for The X-Men spin-off titled The New Mutants. Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, who are no strangers to The X-Men universe, will produce the film while Knate Gwaltney will be co-writing the script along with Boone.
The New Mutants, who made their Marvel Comics debut in the 1980’s, will usher in a new generation of mutants who have their own villains and teenager angst to deal with. Fox has quite an impressive superhero line-up with the addition of The New Mutants, who will join the roaster of upcoming spin-off films along with Deadpool, Wolverine, Gambit and X-Men: Apocolpyse, which is set to premiere next year.
