Felicity Jones Set To Be Star Wars Spin-Off Film’s First Star

Felicity Jones has been cast to play a role in the new Star Wars spin-off film directed by Gareth Edward and written by Garry Whitta.

Felicity Jones, star of The Theory of Everything and The Amazing Superman 2, has landed a role in Gareth Edward’s Star Wars’ spin-off film.

Jones was rumored to be in the running for the role along with Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany, Kate Mara (Fantastic Four), and Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the casting, which was made after a series of secretive readings and tests. It has not yet been revealed who Jones will play and what the films plot will be however rumors have been told that the film will be about a group of bounty hunters.

Gareth Edwards, who directed Godzilla, will be directing the film based on the script whose first draft was written by Garry Whitta. Chris Weitz has just recently been roped into the project. In addition, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Edgar Ramirez (Zero Dark Thirty) are in the running to play the male lead of the film.

The film is set to be released December 16, 2016.
