It’s official: Disney will be producing a follow-up to Finding Nemo, called Finding Dory! The animated film will, of course, star the vocal talents of Ellen DeGeneres. The TV personality doesn’t mind that it’s been so long, she’s just excited that it’s finally happening.
“I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating Toy Story 16. But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”
More Dory? We can’t wait! Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton, who just happened to have directed the original film, will direct Finding Dory. According to the director, this time the film will take place along the coast of California, and we will get to see Marlin and Nemo again!
Not only are we excited to have the familiar friendly fish as the protagonist, but it’s important to note that Dory is a girl. It’s hard to believe, but only one other Pixar film has ever had a female protagonist, and that was last year’s Best Animated Feature Oscar winner Brave. Here’s hoping this is the start of a new trend for Pixar!
