For those comic book aficionados out there eager to see Frank Miller’s Xerxes come to life on the big screen, we have the first images and logo of Noam Murro’s (Smart People) 300: Rise Of An Empire. The film is based on Miller’s Xerxes and serves as a sequel to 2006’s gory, action-fantasy 300. Empire follows General Themistokles as he battles an invading Persian army led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes and his commander Artemesia. The script was written by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad.
Though Gerard Butler isn’t reprising his role of Leonidas, the film does star some other prominent actors, like Game of Thrones Lena Headey and Casino Royale’s bond girl Eva Green. 300: Rise of An Empire is slated for an August 2nd release date.
