If you’re like me, you have a special place in your heart for intense science fiction dystopias. If that’s the case, you’ll be as excited as I am for the upcoming film Elysium! The trailer was just released today, and it looks awesome!

The film stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, and Sharlto Copley, and is directed by District 9’s Neill Blomkamp. Set in the year 2154, Elysium finds Earth a filthy wreck, one which is reserved for the under-privileged masses. The privileged, however, get to live on Elysium. Elysium is a gorgeous space station in orbit around our ruined planet, where nothing bad exists. There is no poverty, no sickness, no war, and no suffering.

Jodie Foster plays Secretary Rhodes, the overseer of security on Elysium. Matt Damon is Max, a man relegated to the pit that is planet Earth. With a criminal record Max is stuck working a job that will literally kill him, but he wants more for himself. In order to achieve it, he’ll have to revert to his days as a criminal in order to gain access to Elysium.

Are you as excited yet? Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!
