Fitbit Steps Up Their Game With New Alta Wristband

Fitbit has come out with a new wristband to rival its smartwatch, the Fitbit Blaze. Introducing the smart stepcounter wristband, the Fitbit Alta!

After their latest release on the smartwatch market, the

Fitbit Blaze, the creative minds of the active tech-wear has come out with a new wristband: the Fitbit Alta.

While the Alta band is as slim as their original step tracker design, that is where the similarities end. The Alta performs some of the same functions as the Apple Watch and reminds you to move with a gentle vibration if you sit still for too long.

That’s pretty useful!

The Alta also has auto sleep tracker (for those times when you don’t remember to tap it into sleep mode), all day activity, and SmartTrack.

According to the official website, “Motivation is your best accessory,” and who wouldn’t be motivated with the slim, crisp display the Alta provides?

The Blaze, Alta’s not so long ago predecessor, is also slim on the wrist, with GPS connectivity and heart rate tracker. But even though the Alta might be able to do some of those things too, it’s a fitness tracker first and a smart device second.

The Alta also comes with smart notifications, interchangeable accessory bands (metal, leather, and multi-colored), a 5 day long battery, and wireless sync. It’s also waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about wiping it off in the rain. They still do not recommend swimming in it, though.

The Alta is currently offered in black, blue, purple, and light blue for $129.95. That’s a pretty good deal considering their Blaze is $199.95. But if you’re looking for a smartwatch feel with a Fitbit lifestyle, you may want to save your money for the larger product. The Blaze also lets you track more than just your steps, with modes for cycling, cross training, and weights. You can also get step-by-step workouts right on your wrist, so you can try new ways to stay active.

But if you’re a runner like me, a slim step counter is all you really need to get up and go.

So what’s stopping you? Get up and move on down to your nearest source of WiFi and check it out! The Alta is currently available for pre-order only.
