The bird shall flap once more! The app that took the world by storm, Flappy Bird, had an early demise. After some controversy about the appearance of the app, the high addiction rate, and the pressure put such controversies put to the team, creator Dong Nguyen took the game off of every app store between here and the end of the universe. This denied potential players the chance at unfiltered frustration generally associated with the game.
But a couple days ago, Nguyen fielded a question about the resurrection of the game, saying that it’ll be back… but not soon. Since the takedown of the app back in February, a study showed that roughly 1/3 of the recent iOS game launches have been Flappy Bird clones. They say the sincerest form of flattery is imitation, so Nguyen may be thrilled with all this attention.
Either way, I look forward to Flappy Bird rising from the ashes of the app store deletion like the addictive, fun, frustrating, and mesmerizing Phoenix that it is.
What do you think? Are you excited for Flappy Bird’s return?
