For The Horde Or Alliance? Warcraft Movie Trailer Finally Released

The hugely anticipated trailer for the upcoming film Warcraft: The Beginning was finally released at Blizzcon this weekend and it is worthy of Azeroth!

The hotly anticipated full length trailer for Duncan Jones’s Warcraft: The Beginning has finally been released this weekend and the internet collectively went nuts. And can you blame them? World Of Warcraft is one of the highest grossing and most popular online massively multiplayer video games in the world. So much so, the studio responsible for the game, Blizzard, has its own convention, Blizzcon which took place November 6th and 7th. The trailer made its debut during the opening ceremonies for Blizzcon, introduced by the director and cast including, Clancy Brown, Dominic Cooper, Ben Foster, Toby Kebbell, Paula Patton and Daniel Wu. Director Duncan Jones told the Associated Press about debuting the trailer at Blizzcon:

I’ve been working on this movie for three years and coming to BlizzCon for the past five years. I know this crowd from both sides, so it was fantastic to be able to finally show them in person and release the trailer online for everyone who couldn’t be here.

If you’re unfamiliar with World Of Warcraft, don’t worry about feeling lost. This film is meant to be an introduction for those who are unfamiliar and a gift to those hardcore fans out there who have been playing the game for years. Jones said, “We have to convince people who aren’t fans of ‘Warcraft’ that this is a movie that they’re going to understand, enjoy and love. I keep telling everyone here that this is an opportunity for those who love ‘Warcraft’ to communicate to everyone else exactly what it is they love about ‘Warcraft.”

The official synopsis for the film reads:

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

The beauty of the story behind Warcraft: The Beginning and World Of Warcraft the game, is that it challenges the viewer/player to see a war from both sides. In this case, a label of ‘good’ or ‘evil’ cannot be pinned on one side or the other; it is a fight for survival, acceptance and understanding.

As a longtime WoW player, my reaction was like many out there, this trailer actually brought me to tears. We’ll be bringing you a lot more coverage in the coming days about all the cool stuff coming out of Blizzcon, so keep your eyes peeled! In the mean time, check out the trailer below and lose yourself in the world of Azeroth. Warcraft: The Beginning will hit theaters June 10th, 2016.
