Former Disney Star Lee Thompson Young, 29, Found Dead

Lee Thompson Young who became famous for his role on the hit Disney series The Famous Jet Jackson has reportedly died at age 29.

The former Disney star was reportedly found dead by his Los Angeles landlord after his coworkers on the set of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles became worried when he didn’t show up to work. The crew apparently called the landlord of Young’s apartment after he failed to show up for work.

News outlets are reporting that the actor died of an apparent suicide, although nothing has been confirmed at this time. The rep for the actor could not be reached for a comment.

Lee grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, where he lived with his parents Velma and Tommy Scott Young. Growing up he was involved in Community Theater having roles in many productions including A Day of Stars and Dreams where he portrayed Martin Luther King. In 1996, during spring break from the University of South Carolina, Lee moved to New York City to secure an agent and pursue acting where he later landed his breakout role on Disney.

Young had previously worked on successful film and tv projects such as Akeelah and The Bee and Disney’s Johnny Tsunami, as well as roles on the Scrubs, Smallville, Flash Forward anda breakout role in the film version of Friday Night Lights.
