Frankie Z Dances His Way Through An Emotional ‘Hello’ Performance

Hitmaker Frankie Z is getting ready to bring “Popback” with his upcoming new single, but right now he’s saying “Hello” to his fans with a new cover video.

Pop hit maker Frankie Z is getting ready to bring “Popback” with his upcoming new single, but right now he’s saying “Hello” to his fans with a new cover video.  Today (November 16) the New York-based performer has provided fans with a moving cover of Adele’s 25 single “Hello,” and it is basically everything.

A good musical cover breathes new life into the song and showcases an artist’s unique perspective, and Frankie Z’s performance of “Hello” does just that.  His take on the track resonates with a fragile sense of longing that competes with Adele’s original heart wrencher.

Frankie Z opted to keep the instrumental simple, supporting the piano-led ballad with orchestral strings.  The arrangement’s simplicity places the full focus on his vocals, which are riddled with heartbreak and desire.  Frankie’s voice soars on the chorus, but his treatment on the verses is much more restrained.  There is a sense of pain and longing to his voice that reflects upon the track’s emotional climate.

In an accompanying music video Frankie Z and a fellow performer dance the pain of a broken heart and a failed relationship.  Taking place in an abandoned building Frankie and his lover play out their longing for a reconciliation.  The beauty of intricate crystal chandeliers and their intimate performance are offset by their burnt surroundings, reflecting upon their delicate state.

The final moments of the visual are especially poignant, as Frankie and his lover reach out for one last embrace only to be divided by a glass door.  The door distorts their bodies and adds a real sense of division to their failed relationship.

I don’t know about you, but I definitely got chills.  Having seen Frankie Z perform on the Pop Nation Tour we knew that he was a phenomenal performer, but this is some next level ish right here!  Everything from Frankie’s vocal arrangement to the visual’s concept are stunning and heart wrenching.

The contemporary choreography showcases Frankie Z’s range as a performer.  His skills as a dancer and a musician make him a particularly interesting up-and-comer on the scene, and this only furthers our belief of that.
