In case you hadn’t heard, Episode VII isn’t the only new Star Wars franchise about to kick off. A CGI-animated series called Star Wars: Rebels is being developed by Disney and LucasFilm Animation, and now The Hollywood Reporter have word that both Freddie Prinze Jr. (Scooby Doo, Mass Effect 3) and David Oyelowo (The Butler, Rise of the Planet of the Apes) are up for roles.

Set between Star Wars Episode III and Episode IV, Rebels would follow the story of the early days of the rebellion against the Empire, when Luke Skywalker was just a kid on Tatooine. Other names being thrown around in regards to the animated series include Vanessa Marshall (Young Justice, The Grim Adventures of Bill & Mandy), Steven Jay Blum (Transformers Prime, The Legend of Korra), and Taylor Gray (Bucket and Skinner’s Epic Adventures).

When asked to comment on the potential casting news, Lucasfilm said: “We don’t have any casting announcements at the time, but are excited about the series, and look forward to sharing news with you in the future.”

Look for Star Wars: Rebels in Fall 2014 on Disney XD!
