Fresh from the announcement of The Notebook television series being in development, it seems it won’t be the only film getting the series treatment over at the CW. As it seems, a show based on horror classic Friday The 13th is also in the works.
The CW president Mark Pedowitz was the one to deliver the news of the network developing a series based on the well-known Friday The 13th film series. If the show ends up being picked up by The CW, it is expected to tell the story of a detective in quest of his missing brother. Of course the case is connected to Jason Voorhees, the serial killer that was drowned in Crystal Lake as a kid, who’s making a comeback. The iconic character is set to be reimagined with a more realistic approach this time around.
Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle (The Pretender) have been hired to write the pilot, with director Sean S. Cunningham who kicked off the Friday The 13th franchise in the 80′s serving as executive producer alongside Basso, Schell, Randall Emmett, George Furla and Mark Canton.
The franchise previously had a shot on television back in 1987 with Friday The 13th: The Series. However, that show was never linked to the film series, something the upcoming one is expected to do.
